The $999 Apple iPhone X Is A Bargain, Says Tim Cook

"Also, most people actually trade in their current phone, and so that reduces the prices further, and some carriers even throw in, you know, subsidies and discounts", said Cook. This screen dominates the front of the phone and it's going to be one of the iPhone X features you'll love the most.

Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook sure doesn't think so. Anil Jain, a Michigan State University professor who studies biometric recognition and computer vision, notes that it uses an existing tactic called structured light to capture your visage in three dimensions-something he employed for object recognition back in the 1980s.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said Tuesday that the almost $1,000 iPhone X is "a value price, actually", after being asked if it was a too expensive for "the average American".

Matthew Panzarino focused on the iPhone 8 camera improvements in his review, hailing the feature for having no shutter lag and highly improved flash image quality. According to the Apple spokesperson, "We have discovered that when Apple Watch Series 3 joins unauthenticated Wi-Fi networks without connectivity, it may at times prevent the watch from using cellular". And though the dual-camera setup on the iPhone 8-Plus is slightly inferior to the X's - the X supports optical image stabilization (OIS) for both lenses rather than just one, and has a slightly larger aperture for its telephoto lens - both deliver major improvements compared with the iPhone 7-Plus' camera with the help of better sensors and image-processing.

Lisa Eadicicco commended the iPhone 8 for faster Touch ID responses and shutter speed for the camera.

The iPhone X is the first time Apple has bumped up the resolution of its iPhone since 2014's iPhone 6 - the iPhone X has a resolution of 2436 x 1125 pixels at 458 PPI.

The iPhone 8 is dramatically cheaper, however, at £699 versus the iPhone X's £999 asking price. The data captured is processed directly by the neural engine which Apple embedded directly onto the A11 Bionic chip. I counted the word "disappointment" 34% more often than "innovative", while "lackluster" is popular enough this year to show up as frequently as the neutral "announced". It will hit the retail shelves starting November 3.

The iPhone 8, on the other hand, looks nearly identical to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

A report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says when a new iPhone goes on pre-orders, the demand tends to be so strong that there is a 3-6 weeks of shipping delay.
