While Carroll is set to take a breather and play no play no part in Tuesday's Carabao Cup third round clash against Championship strugglers Bolton, it remains an issue which is troubling Bilic.

Asked whether he feels the pair could partner in the No 9 and No 10 roles, Bilic said: "Yes, but it's very hard to please everyone".

"It is hard to do that and then have three at the back, then with Antonio and Arnautovic, it is nearly impossible".

"Chicharito is at the moment playing in a position that is not his ideal position", said Bilic.

"Fair enough, it didn't have to be red, but a lot of times I've seen red for that, especially when you play at home, to be fair".

"It's possible, of course, and I'm thinking about that the most".

Bilic did praise his defence for keeping West Brom at bay, telling the West Ham website: "It has not been a great game of football, but we were solid again and limited them to one chance in the game". He looks good, he looks fit, he is training, hopefully he is going to last because that was his problem for ages.

He fired three of West Ham's six shots on goal in Saturday's 0-0 draw at West Bromwich Albion.

Bilic had anxious that Collins, a solid presence in a backline which has kept back-to-back clean sheets, would miss months of the season after he fell awkwardly at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Reports claim the 34-year-old Welshman picked up a damage to his ankle ligament, and could miss at least 2 weeks of action.

"If you have a look at the round that was being played a few weeks ago, most of the clubs are playing with good teams. But to be fair I expected worse based on how he got injured and all that".
