An officer was found dead after a reported shooting incident in the Presidential Palace Park on Tuesday morning, a statement from the Philippine Presidential Security Group confirmed, China's Xinhua news agency reported.

Dagoy said police were now investigating the shooting and the PSG did not want to speculate about the circumstances. "We need to find out exactly what it was", Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said during a televised press conference in Malacañang. "Certainly no foul play". "When she arrived in the quarters [of the security], she found her husband lying dead", Dagoy told reporters, adding that the body had a bullet hole near his heart, as broadcast by CNN Philippines.

According to Presidential Security Group spokesman Mike Aquino, the incident took place in Malacanang Park, the base of Duterte's guard unit and close to his Bahay Pagbabago residence. He was not seen in public on Monday and, prior to the mysterious shooting, had spent several days in his southern home city of Davao. Every week he spends long weekends in Davao City, starting on Friday or even earlier.
