According to reports, the company has started bookings of the model. The launch of the Renault Captur will further strengthen Renault's position in the fast-growing SUV segment. The vehicle exemplifies Renault's product strategy for India, which is to launch products that create a unique vehicle class, while ticking all the right boxes in terms of design, features, technology and value. He said that Renault India learnt from the Duster that Indians love changes in their vehicles and while they were initially slow to respond to the market changes, now they are introducing some or the other changes to their cars starting with the Kwid. Renault India says that the slew of launches will start with the all-new Renault Captur SUV.

As expected, the Renault Captur borrows the 1.5-litre diesel and petrol engines from the Duster (only diesel variants will be offered at the time of launch).

Renault Captur is already a successful premium SUV cross the globe.

Trivia: The India-spec Captur borrows the name and styling of the first-gen Euro-spec Captur which is based on the Renault Clio's B platform. The petrol option will continue with the 4-cylinder, 1.5-litre engine that churns out 106PS at 5,600rpm and 142Nm of torque at 4,000rpm.

The Captur is more of a crossover than an SUV but it still has a high ground clearance of 210mm.

Renault Captur's exterior features bonnet creases and the front bumper, with Satin Finish Front & Rear Skid Plates.

The diesel version will be powered by the 1.5L K9K diesel engine (common rail injection), mated to 6 speed manual gear box, delivering a maximum power of 110 PS at 4,000 rpm and peak torque of 240 Nm at 1,750 rpm. Production of the Captur has commenced at the Renault-Nissan alliance plant in Oragadam, Chennai. From a visual standpoint, the Captur will get LED headlamps with C-shaped LED DRL, floating side indicators, and contrast roof.

Renault Captur is certified to exceed frontal and lateral crash test parameters, claims the company. Standard features on the Captur will include dual airbags, ABS, alloy wheels, and an entertainment system.
