The Bhoys hammered Dundee 4-0 in the Scottish League Cup on Wednesday night, with James Forrest hitting a brace whilst Scott Sinclair and Callum McGregor also found the back of the net.

Rodgers has told the club's official website that he placed Forrest on an individual training programme to play in the Celtic side, but his job is very simple - and he has been "absolutely brilliant". We will have ups and downs over the season in search of consistency but I have full belief in them.

"I did think the first goal was a penalty and there was contact, although I'd like to see it again".

"On the whole, though, I can have no complaints about the result". "He's been outstanding for me." .

He added: "With young players, one, they have to earn it and, two, you don't go overboard with them because they have played a couple of good games".

"This is club that has been far removed from winning trophies and I want to get back to it, and I would love these guys to be part of it".

"We were taking big risks at that point".

"They are going into all these systems that I am throwing at them".

The Scotland global has already hit seven goals this term, including his brace against Dundee on Wednesday, and he has earned praise from manager Rodgers.

"He's got a lot of talent and because he comes in and plays the games without any fuss I don't think he always get the credit that he deserves".

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on in-form winger James Forrest, who he believes is a joy to work with and never moans.

"We had to be patient but once we got the first goal that created confidence and we passed the ball very well and scored some very good goals".

"All round, the team played very well, played with a professional attitude and kept a clean sheet".
