Morata: We sent a message to Prem teams

An added statistical quirk is that a Chelsea player scored a hat-trick against both Forest and Stoke, with Michy Batshuayi accomplishing that feat on Wednesday and Álvaro Morata replying in kind (and with his feet nonetheless!) on Saturday.

His availability will be a massive boost to Conte as the west London outfit welcome free-scoring Premier League leaders Manchester City to Stamford Bridge three days later.

When Antonio Conte signed Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid in the close season, some critics suggested the Spain striker would not be an adequate replacement for Diego Costa given the unique physical demands of the Premier League.

While at Chelsea, the Argentine global Franco di Santos, wore the shirt in his nine appearances for The Blues, but never managed to score a goal. Alvaro Morata scored his first Chelsea hat-trick, courtesy of two assists from Cesar Azpilicueta. The Dutchman failed entirely to read the danger as Morata glided through and brought the ball under control with his first touch and slipped it past Jack Butland with his second.

United weren't as impressive on the South Coast, but a single goal from Lukaku gave Jose Mourinho and his troops the three points.

"Alvaro took his goals very well, which for a striker is very important", Chelsea manager Antonio Conte said. Chelsea is in the fight for the title and it's the thing that we want.

Chelsea scored from its only two shots in the first half, Morata putting the team in front after just 82 seconds before fellow Spain worldwide Pedro netted his second goal in his last three games. "You must know that when you are in a great team, there are many players, you must be ready to play, to start", Conte explained.

"We are trying to work very hard with him, to adapt himself in our style of football, our idea". "This game is very hard - I remember last season".

Again, Stoke had committed a basic defensive error, again another of Chelsea's Spanish forwards had found themselves clear on goal and again they had not missed.
