It's Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday today. Also our Railways Minister Piyush Goyal would in Chennai and Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar in Mumbai, as part of the party's plan to celebrate their top leader's birthday as a "day of service" (Seva Diwas) across the country, a party leader said.

Narendra Modi was born on 17 September, 1950.

Like every year, the Prime Minister began his 67th birthday celebration seeking his mother Heeraben's blessings at Gandhinagar in Gujarat.

Lavishing praise on Modi on his 67th birthday, Shah said the PM's life in many ways was a "personification of the spirit of India" and claimed his sensitivity towards the aspirations of the poor had led to "historic poverty alleviation initiatives taking shape at a scale unheard of in the history" of India.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Sunday reiterated his stance of making Chhattisgarh Open-Defecation Free (ODF) and said that the state is going strong to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "Swachh Bharat".

He further said that he wished to invite Prime Minister Modi in 2018 to show him an ODF Chhattisgarh.

The world's second biggest dam, Sardar Sarovar Dam is being inaugurated 60 years after its foundation stone was laid.
