Man Sets Pregnant Girlfriend On Fire Forcing Her to Deliver Prematurely

A pregnant woman's boyfriend set her on fire in Capitol Heights, Maryland, critically injuring her and forcing her to deliver her baby, police say.

While suffering from burns, Grinage told police what took place and who was responsible, according to Fox 5 DC.

Andrea later gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Journey Aleah.


Neighbors said they heard the couple arguing the night prior to the fire. "Both the mother and the baby require your thoughts and prayers at this time". Grinage told cops Laquinn Phillips poured a flammable liquid on her, lit a match, then watched her turn into a fireball. Grinage already has two sons, aged 15 and 8.

The suspect, whose name is unknown at this time, turned himself in while in Washington, D.C. Charges are now pending. Detectives suceeded in getting the suspect on the phone and talked him into turning himself in.

His daughter is a "fighter", Grinage said, but she has a long recovery. PLEASE stop domestic violence'. "We want her family to know how fearless she was, suffering as badly as she was - critically burned, anxious about her unborn child, dealing with those injuries and was able to share that information with us so that we could get moving with our investigation and locate this person", Prince George's County police spokeswoman Jennifer Donelan said. "You either step up and be a dad or you walk away".


Andrea Grinage's body was covered in burns following the brutal attack at her home in Maryland. "She's doing fine. She's handsome", he said.

"She was very courageous. We want her family to know how courageous she was, suffering as badly as she was - critically burned, anxious about her unborn child, dealing with those injuries and was able to share that information with us so that we could get moving with our investigation and locate this person", Donelan said.
