Jurgen Klopp pencils in Philippe Coutinho's Liverpool return date

It is a bold move on Klopp's behalf.

They both came through a play-off round to reach the group stages of this season's Champions League.

How the Anfield faithful will react to Coutinho's return is anybody's guess, but if the Brazilian gets his head down and performs like he did last season, they'll warm to him once more.

"If we don't give them a game then every year we have to find a number two, 33 years old, who still can catch a few balls and doesn't want to play any more - that's really hard, to find someone like that".

"If they train bad they don't deserve a game, but they both train really well, they keep the level really high".

"I'm not sure it's quite that easy", he said, "but if it is that easy - if we bring him in and then everything is great again - then that's cool". That's really hard to find someone like that'.

Mane is banned for the next few Premier League matches, but is available against Sevilla.

Karius has only played once this season and he had little to do in the 4-0 drubbing of Arsenal on August 28.

Liverpool refused to sanction his departure and Klopp has now confirmed the 25-year-old is in contention to return at Anfield. It was very intense.

Here we look at some of the talking points ahead of the game.

I think Liverpool's front three will prove to be too much for Sevilla, although I also think it'll be a close game.

As claimed by Don Balon and reviving a story that has been floated at least twice already over the past month, Barcelona have sent word to Coutinho via his agent that if the player can resist Liverpool's efforts to cup tie him hey will return to sign him in January. If Liverpool manage to beat Sevilla well, a top-of-the-group finish becomes more probable, which could mean progress in the competition.

However, Liverpool could be without Mohamed Salah, who missed training on Tuesday due to illness. 'We don't moan about this'.

The last time Liverpool and Sevilla met was in the final of the 2015-16 Europa League in Basel.
