51 American Red Cross volunteers and seven emergency response vehicles are in Texas as part of the Harvey relief effort.

Actress Sandra Bullock has made an incredibly generous donation to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.

The organizations supplies blood to hospitals in north, central and east Texas. That combined amount includes money to organizations such as The American Red Cross, matching contributions from employees, in-kind donations, volunteers and the donation of pre-owned cars.

"It'll be a good thing to give back to the community", Red Cross volunteer Richard Sokol said. Alternatively, any shipper using PLS trucking services the week of September 4th for Texas related freight will have 100% of profits from those shipments donated to the American Red Cross. "If you send donations such as food and clothing, it takes time to sort them and it takes away time we spend with clients". Five deaths and more than a dozen injuries have been reported, and this number is likely to rise as rescue efforts continue.

They plan to send more and said their efforts won't stop anytime soon. During natural disasters like Harvey the Red Cross typically sees a spike in phone calls from people offering to help.

"It's going to be going on for months". She also encouraged others to pitch in what they can.

"They understand that Texas has a big need but OR [fires] could flare up, Washington [fires] could flare up and the need still exists somewhere and we can activate them where they are needed most", Snow explained.

Sheldon Hy-Vee Store Director Josh Osborn says he's excited about the opportunity his store's customers have to make a real positive impact in the lives of those suffering the effects of Hurricane Harvey.
