Saturday Night Live was another big victor of the night for their politically charged 43rd season.

Women also made inroads behind the camera, with Lena Waithe winning best comedy writer Emmy for "Master of None".

Julia Louis-Dreyfus is expected to win her sixth consecutive Emmy for playing an egotistical, losing presidential candidate on Time Warner's HBO comedy "Veep". Add in the Emmys Louis-Dreyfus won for "Seinfeld" and "New Adventures of Old Christine", and she is now tied with Cloris Leachman as the most Emmy-winning performer ever.

Stephen Colbert has started the 2017 Emmy Awards with a musical number. Immediately after the awards telecast, Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins celebrated with the cast and producers.
