Tomb Raider is an MGM and Warner with GK Films. After months of teasing and anticipation, the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot has finally unveiled its official trailer-but it leaked a little earlier than anticipated.

Tomb Raider releases on March 16th, 2018 in theaters everywhere. It sees Swedish actress Alicia Vikander take over from Angelina Jolie as the character of Lara Croft.

After winning an Oscar for her role in The Danish Girl, Alicia Vikander did what everyone in Hollywood does: She signed on to star as an ass-kicking badass in a studio franchise film. But the main thing about this trailer is that there is Walton Goggins who is honestly the person I'm most excited about in this movie (though Vikander and Daniel Wu make up an inspired team). Lara has never excepted that her father is indeed dead and goes out on a quest to discover just what happened to him.

The footage itself looks very similar to the 2013 video game, with Croft finding herself marooned on an island filled with traps, puzzles and bad guys after a storm.

The trailer is full of action and features some key moments from the first game in the series.

While the action is clearly the selling point of this film, so is Vikander. The film is set to serve as an origin story for Lara as it finds her forced to discover the courage within and become the heroic archaeologist we know as the Tomb Raider. In the game she had a whole gang of friends to help her traverse through the island of Yamatai, but for the movie it looks like she'll only have Lu to count on.

The Plot: Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Instead of taking over his global business empire, 21-year-old #LaraCroft leaves her life behind to embark on a daring investigation into what befell her father.
