Falcons 34, Packers 23

Atlanta players are wearing caps with the motto this week because they know only a relentless pursuit will bring down Rodgers, whose ability to scramble causes major problems for defenses.

"We're going to take it home!" "Well, if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best". Green Bay took out No. 1-seeded Dallas in the NFC divisional playoffs past year, but Atlanta had home-field advantage in the NFC championship game. This was a nice win for the Falcons, but it certainly did not turn out the way I had predicted.

"But remember this: the past is the past".

Head coach Mike McCarthy has stressed the importance of balance on offence this season and it showed in their win over Seattle last week. The Packers did not have an answer for them on defense throughout the night.

The Atlanta Falcons carved up the Packers secondary early and often. Damarious Randall gave up big gains to Julio Jones to open the game for gains of 19 and 34 yards.

Running back Tevin Coleman scored on a short pass from Ryan after corner back Desmond Trufant picked off Rodgers in the second quarter, and then Trufant scooped and scored on defense after Vic Beasley strip sacked the Packers quarterback. Even the TV announcers said it was a bad call. "And a quarterback that had a career year last year". "They shored their defense up, but they also have to score some points".

The Falcons have given up the most yards and receptions to running backs since the beginning of last season, making Ty Montgomery a strong candidate to have a big game.

Quinten Rollins, Green Bay's second-round draft choice in 2015, also battled a groin injury last season and struggled immensely.

With starting offensive tackles Bryan Bulaga and David Bakhtiari already both out for Sunday's game, Green Bay announced wide receiver Jordy Nelson suffered a quad injury and defensive lineman Mike Daniels suffered a hamstring injury during the first half.

The television feeds of Sunday Night Football on NBC in the press box of Mercedes-Benz Stadium were muted. Rodgers and the offense will aim to silence the crowd and score early and often to avoid falling behind. In order to remain undefeated, the Packers will need to avoid the critical mistakes they made against the Falcons in all three phases.

"What a night for him", coach Dan Quinn said. "That's just the way I am as a person", Trufant said. The app can be downloaded via Apple's iTunes Store and the Google Play Store.

And perhaps the difference in squandering a 25-point lead against New England in the Super Bowl and holding onto a 24-point advantage on Sunday vs. the Pack, was having the difference-maker on the edge against a great QB. Yesterday is history, the future is tomorrow.

Yes, this is something awesome to talk about at the office, but what's eve more exciting is that the Falcons are finally overtaking Green Bay in the NFC. It's all about match-ups, and the Packers' "Nitro" package (six DBs with Morgan Burnett at ILB) affords a much better chance to compete against one of the NFL's best offenses featuring Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and Devonta Freeman.
