She did what any fearless woman in her situation would do-delivered the baby, all by herself.

The Washington Post reports that a woman called 911 around 3.23am that she was in labor.

At 5:35 a.m. she called again.

However, this is not the only case of a woman giving birth during the storm.

A South Florida woman delivered a baby at home after being coached through the delivery by emergency personnel and doctors during Hurricane Irma.

Emergency crews had to take an armored vehicle in order to respond to the call for help, however storm damage made it hard to get to the residence in time.

She also could see another nearby crane spinning, and she said her family was prepared to run into a stairwell for safety. Dispatch told her how to tie it off.

According to the Miami Herald, assistant fire chief Eloy Garcia, followed protocol.

"What we feared the most was the surge", he said on MSNBC.

Thankfully, the mom and baby girl made it out safely. Ready or not, the baby was coming.

The monster storm arrived in Florida on Sunday morning as a fearsome Category 4 hurricane but weakened rapidly in the evening and overnight. "It's bigger than Andrew, which was catastrophic for us".

The area is flooded "from the storm surge that is coming over the sea walls", said Steven Schlacknam, a 51-year-old visual artist who made a decision to ride out the storm from his 37th floor apartment.

In the wake of the hurricane, there was one main goal for emergency responders: "Our number one priority is saving lives", Police Detective Robin Pinkard told Time.

The mother and her newborn were later taken to a hospital, the city tweeted.

Rescuers rushed the mom and little girl to the hospital. "She's doing fine", Regalado said of the mother.
