'Diego Costa without attitude' - Alvaro Morata era dawns at Chelsea

Morata opened the scoring in the second minute at the bet365 Stadium and netted twice in quick succession after the interval to take his tally this season to six goals in his first six Premier League matches, as Chelsea delivered an emphatic reminder of the defensive strength and ruthless finishing that made them champions in 2016-17. I hope to see the same performance from him and the team.

Antonio Conte reflected on a "good day" for his Chelsea side after they cruised to a 4-0 win at Stoke on Saturday.

17 - Alvaro Morata is the 17th player to score a @premierleague hat-trick for Chelsea - only Arsenal have had more (19).

Since Eden Hazard started midweek against Nottingham Forest, it would be safe to assume that he's back to full fitness.

On Thursday a deal was agreed for Costa to return to his former club Atletico Madrid and that move should be finalised next week.

This game and this week overall should prove good insight into whether Conte does actually trust his squad when it matters (and not just in easy games like Qarabag or Nottingham Forest). You know that after a bad injury, after surgery, you need time. He is nearly ready to play but if I make this decision it will be because I am comfortable with this decision.

"If I make this decision it is because I am comfortable with this decision".

"Yeah, I would have no problem [shaking Costa's hand]", Conte added.

"We are trying to work very hard with him, to adapt himself in our style of football, our idea".

Stoke rallied, but Morata's late double put the result beyond all doubt, and Conte praised his side's gritty display.

The win extends Stoke's wait for a victory to five matches across all competitions, whereas Chelsea are now unbeaten in seven games and have won their opening three away fixtures of a league season for the first time since 2009. Don't forget in his previous experiences with Juventus and Real Madrid: he played but not in every game, not regularly. Now it is very important to prepare. We will try our best. "Don't forget we have to play another tough game against Manchester City on Saturday".
