The anti-extortion cell of the Thane Police initiated action against Kaskar after receiving a complaint from a businessman, reported India Today.

Dawood Ibrahim's younger brother Iqbal Kaskar was arrested on Monday evening over allegations of extortion, reports said.

Kaskar was nabbed up by the anti-extortion cell's encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma who had been recently reinstated and posted with the cell.

Iqbal is a resident of the Nagpada area of Mumbai.

Kaskar was also arrested in an extortion case in February 2015 and was granted bail a week later. As per the report, he is presently being questioned by the Thane anti extortion cell officials. His residence was a building away that had now been vacated.

Reportedly, Kaskar had been threatening builders on behalf of Dawood and was demanding huge extortion money.

He had been deported to India from the United Arab Emirates in 2003. However, he was acquitted by the court.

Sources in the state police said that after being arrested, Kaskar was whisked away by the police to an undisclosed destination for quizzing.
