Cardinals host Clemson in big ACC battle

"We just want to win the game".

Clemson-Louisville is the best game on the docket this weekend. It could have national ramifications. Now college football fans will be hoping for more of the same on Saturday, Sept. 16 as the defending National Champions travel to Papa John's Cardinals Stadium to face the Cardinals.

Bryant, a 6-foot-4, 265-pound junior, had few issues getting through and around Auburn blockers on Saturday. Williams' career-best 149 yards on 13 carries at UNC were 17 more than Jackson, an important stat for a ground game looking to succeed beyond Jackson. I'd be thrilled if we could get an encore performance. "Where we came from, it's just big that we both went to schools". "But as far as talking about the game and things like that, we haven't discussed that".

It will be a re-match of last year's thriller between the two teams, in which the Tigers escaped with a 42-36 win in Death Valley.

In the Cowboys' first two games, Rudolph has completed 45-of-62 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns. Deshaun Watson, who was a first-round draft pick of the Houston Texans, rallied the Tigers with two fourth quarter touchdown passes.

"Hopefully, we can do a little better job of taking care of the ball and maximizing our opportunities when they present themselves", Swinney said.

On the other hand, Louisville's Seth Dawkins has been solid returning kickoffs, and a big one in this game could be a big boost against what has been an outstanding Clemson defense.

Unlike past year, when the Louisville-Clemson game featured the nation's top two offensive weapons in Watson and Louisville quarterback and Heisman Trophy victor Lamar Jackson, the focus will be on Louisville's offense vs. Clemson's defense. He's accounted for 1,010 yards and eight touchdowns in wins over Purdue and North Carolina.

Meanwhile, new starting quarterback Kelly Bryant continued his strong start to the year as he made enough plays.

"They're a great group", Petrino said. "They play the run well".

The Tigers have limited opponents to just over 118 yards per contest, including just 40 through the air.

"Then they've got three really good receivers that we know well coming back (and) are deep threats". Going back to the College Football Playoff games a year ago against Ohio State and Alabama, Venables was able to game plan effectively against J.T. Barrett and Jalen Hurts - two quarterbacks who didn't really pose any passing threat vertically.

"They slip blocks and make tackles and they keep them free", Petrino said.

Stopping Jackson is a different story.

Louisville's offense is averaging 615 yards a game, fifth in the nation, but Clemson's defense ranks No. 2, allowing under 150 yards a game.

"Lamar is incredible", Louisville offensive tackle Geron Christian said.

"He exposes a lot of people in the way that he plays". The defensive line was nothing short of sensational against Auburn, and Louisville's blocking unit is comparable-which is to say, not great. "They have to make sure they have contain and stay in gaps".

Pitt hung with the Cowboys previous year, but here's the thing about their matchup in 2017: Oklahoma State is better, and Pitt doesn't have its best player in the secondary, Jordan Whitehead. That should give the Cardinals confidence heading into their first big battle of the campaign. I much prefer to watch him.

Lamar Jackson vs. Clemson front - If there's a defense in the country that has a shot at slowing down the reigning Heisman victor, it's Clemson's.
