Coach Bill O'Brien declined to name a starter for Thursday's tilt versus the Cincinnati Bengals, but NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports that at this point the Texans would prefer to stick with the rookie. Watson completed 5-of-8 for 37 yards, one touchdown, and a passer rating of 113.0 after entering the game for starter Tom Savage.

Watson promptly led the team on a touchdown drive, though his play was spotty after that, as he finished the game 12-of-23 with 102 yards, a touchdown, an interception and a lost fumble himself. He took almost all of the first-team snaps.

There are plenty of questions as we head into Week 2, particularly with the availability of a few key players due to injury and who will be the starting quarterback for the Houston Texans.

The Texans were thought to be waffling between Savage and Watson for Thursday night's game against the Bengals in Cincinnati.

Jacksonville walked into Houston and left with an eye-opening 29-7 win to start the season 1-0. The Texans didn't record a sack or a turnover while surrendering 100 yards to rookie running back Leonard Fournette in his National Football League debut.

But Watson was always going to be the future at the position for the Texans. I think I may have learned two things from that game-either the Patriots are a mere skeleton of previous years OR that Kansas City is a bona fide Super Bowl team.

Eagles 30, Redskins 17: Carson Wentz threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns as the second-year quarterback guided the Eagles in a sloppy, mistake-filled season opener. "I was holding on to the ball a little too long, trying to make some plays down the field", Savage said. The offense is going to need to utilize the read option with Watson and Lamar Miller. The Cardinals could also use Andre Ellington in pass-catching plays while Elijhaa Penny will be utilized in short-yardage situations. "With every decision that you make, you try in the best way that you can to take input and then make the best decision for the team, whether it's a play call or the right guard or the middle linebacker or the quarterback".
