49ers at Seahawks: Preview, prediction, odds and pick

"We'll see how this works out". "But it was one of those first games, and we made some mistakes". There was no shame in losing to the Packers; they are a good team. "We haven't missed him in a long time". "I have no doubts that we will be able to do that".

Feelings of excitement, anxiety, and a sense of urgency abound for the Seattle Seahawks and their fans as they head into the home opener against the San Francisco 49ers at CenturyLink Field on Sunday.

This also isn't the same type of defense as Green Bay.

The Seattle Seahawks, a 14-point favorite against the 49ers, are the best bets in survivor polls this week.

Seattle has won its last six regular-season games against the 49ers by a combined 147-67, and the last four have come the week after a Seahawks loss. Things won't get any easier for San Francisco as they take on a solid Seahawks defense in game two.

Carroll said Friday that Sherman played with the injury last week at Green Bay, a game in which he was on the field for all 82 snaps (and a game in which he had been listed as questionable with a thigh issue). Unfortunately, the worst offensive line in the National Football League (by a longshot) lived up to its reputation as Seattle could not get anything going offensively, managing just 225 total yards in the 17-9 loss to the Packers. But there should be no doubt that Kaepernick, were he still with San Francisco, would be by far the most talented quarterback on the roster.

These two teams have a history of playing tight, physical games and the last meeting was decided by just two points. If the NFL Network is part of your cable package, you can also live stream the game through the NFL app on XBox, Apple TV, or Roku device on your TV. Defensively, San Francisco is going to have to improve on third down as Carolina was 7-for-13 in those situations. Seattle is still trying to find the best use for Eddie Lacy, who had just five carries for 3 yards in the opener.

"Mike got off to a great start with us and then a couple of little things kept him away for some time", Carroll said. The 49ers don't present the same kind of problems with their pass rushers, but this is a serious problem area for Seattle, something left over from a year ago when they couldn't keep Russell Wilson clean.

Carroll said Friday that Sherman played through a bit of pain during the Green Bay game last week and he was held out of Wednesday and Thursday practices for rest.

"He's reminded me of that during the week", Carroll said.

They always have lately against the 49ers, the get-well card that the Seahawks hope again delivers.
