Why Manchester City are favorites to win the Premier League

The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season to regress in the English top flight under Jose Mourinho.

"Given the transfers, I think what you do is you try to assess nearly a middle market".

Manchester City now have some of the top young talent in Europe at the disposal of Pep Guardiola, and two of the best youth players in the team have been recognized for their potential to be great players.

They return to the fray this weekend having spent around £200 million ($261 million, 221.3 million euros) on players and Guardiola believes an exciting new team is taking shape.

Former England and Newcastle striker Shearer is tipping Manchester United to win the Premier League title for the first time since 2013.

Man City failed to impress in the Champions League as well, as they exited the competition in the round of 16 to Monaco.

Guardiola could start with Jesus and Sergio Aguero up front, given he has used a 3-5-2 set-up for much of pre-season, which suggests Walker and Danilo are to be deployed as wing-backs. If he wants us to play together we can, as we have already shown.

He became more expansive in Brighton's promotion last season and it will be interesting to see if he has learned from his previous spell at this level.

Jesus ended last season with seven goals in eight Premier League starts, although arguably his two most famous strikes were disallowed for offside. While it is certain that the 24-year-old will play a pivotal role in Chelsea's title-defence this season, it remains to be seen if he is able to fill the void left by the departure of Diego Costa.

"It is a brilliant game for the fans and it is just something to look forward to".

"I never complained for one bad game or bad defeat, making excuses, never, even in Germany I never said that, never in my life I make an excuse about what happened".

"The teams that arrive, in the first four, five, six games they are so complicated".

"We make good things last season with the player we had", he said. You get most of your goals against the lower teams and I think Jesus will start more than Aguero and if he doesn't start then he'll come on, so I fancy him for the Golden Boot.

His poker career has taken a backseat in recent years but he says investing in Brighton is the best single punt he has made: "I guess when I made the commitment - and that was a long time before I took over the club - of investing in Brighton and Hove Albion". "It's the same pressure as I had last season".

"The big fail now takes one week in football! It depends on many other circumstances but we've tried to buy good defenders but also creative players and strikers to score more goals". Another trophy-less season will likely be deemed another failure and expectations, as such, are high in the Premier League, with an eye too on the Champions League semi-final at the very least.
