Minnesota kicker Justin Junemann was surprised with a full-ride scholarship by head coach PJ Fleck and a fan named Kyle, who is a patient at the University of Minnesota's children's hospital.

Juenemann has yet to appear in a game with the Golden Gophers, but if he does, it'll be as a scholarship athlete for the first time in his life.

Only a few days ago Juenemann was a walk-on kicker. "Where his face is recognizable", Fleck said in the video.

As the Gophers players' shirts show, Fleck has brought his iconic "Row The Boat" mantra from his old job at Western Michigan to Minnesota.

"You just have to be the best you that you can be and never ever stop", Coach Fleck explained.

"When he (Coach P.J. Fleck) singled me out I was surprised", Juenemann told ESPN in an interview.

"They don't have to plan these big special moments, but they want to", he said. He is a fifth year senior. "All of the emotions running through me at the time and the fact that Coach Fleck and Kyle went through that effort to create a special moment is awesome".

Juenemann caught the t-shirt and people started cheering.

"It's really good for the players to see that [alumni] support" he said.

Juenemann was quickly swarmed by his teammates before sitting down and giving his mom a call to let her known about his scholarship.
