India is celebrating its 70th Independence Day a day after its neighbour Pakistan.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi folds his hands in a traditional Indian greeting after addressing the nation from the historic Red Fort during Independence Day celebrations in Delhi, India. He hoped the campaign against Triple Talaq would succeed.

On Tuesday, the Indian Prime Minister also appealed to Indians to shun communal violence and work instead for the nation's progress.

Says state's problem can be solved by embracing Kashmiris. There is no question of being soft of terrorism or terrorists. You (terrorists) come to the mainstream. He said, "Innovation is life".

"For the first time in history, Russian Federation is selling arms to Pakistan". Though it explicitly did not say so, the USA was reminding China of U.S. backing for India's stakes and cautioning it against any precipitate action on Doklam. He added that India's stature in the world is rising, and several countries are cooperating with India in fighting the menace of terrorism.

Modi spoke about a "New India" before 2022 and said that the country must make advances in all fields.

As the leaders of two of the world's largest and fastest-growing major economies, Trump and Modi looked forward to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in India this November, the White House said, adding that Trump has asked his daughter and advisor Ivanka Trump to lead the United States summit delegation.

Violence in the name of asthaa (faith) is not something to be happy about, it will not be accepted in India. The poison of casteism and communalism can never benefit the country. Modi informed that government is working on projects like Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, smart cities construction and building up entrepreneurship. "This has given confidence to the ordinary people that this is a land for the honest. The corrupt have no place to hide anymore", he said.

He accused the Modi government of "cutting" the health budget, which he said, was why the hospital could not buy oxygen cylinders. Rs 3 lakh crore has come back into the economy after demonetisation.

He said 18 lakh people had been identified with assets more than their known sources of income. Of these, we have shut down 1.75 lakh companies. All of it was being done in connivance. "This is the result of fight against black money", he said. He said the abolition of inter-state check posts after the implementation of GST has reduced time for movement of goods by 30 per cent and saved thousands of crores of rupees.

The Prime Minister called for an end to the "chalta hai" attitude of complacency, and its replacement with an attitude of "badal sakta hai" for positive change.

Asked about the decision by the U.S. and India to establish two-by-two ministerial dialogue, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said, "We noticed relevant report". India was freed from the British rule on this date in 1947 after a prolonged struggle by the people of the nation. "I firmly believe they will succeed". At the event, Modi addressed the gathering and said, "With changing times, we have to change our processes and systems".
