Mourinho says Manchester United still in the market for a winger

The Champions League is obviously more hard.

Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals in 46 appearances for Jose Mourinho's side since signing on a free last summer but his debut Premier Leauge season was cut short when the Swede picked up a serious knee injury in a Europa League clash with Anderlecht in April.

"In my initial analysis from January and through the months I was thinking of four players but I'm not a hard person to work with in spite of if you make it look different", said Mourinho, ahead of United's Premier League opener against West Ham tomorrow.

The arrivals of defender Victor Lindelof, midfielder Nemanja Matic and striker Romelu Lukaku have also improved the squad.

"The Premier League is what you all know", he told a news conference ahead of United's opening match against West Ham on Sunday.

Antonio Conte, fairly clearly, is not happy that he has been sold, and the Serbian was probably United's best player in the Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Jose Mourinho has provided an update on the possibility of Zlatan Ibrahimovic rejoining Manchester United just two months after the forward was released by the club. "He is not ready to play tomorrow, so it is not something that's urgent".

'Obviously [we wanted] a player for another position playing from the sides, but we have players and if you can not strengthen the team in these areas, we have people that we trust and we go for it'.

"It is not because I have always done it (won the league title in his second season) that I am going to do it again", Mourinho said.

"But we have lost important players to injury too, such as Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young, Luke Shaw, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic". We have confidence levels of a team that won a European competition and is back in the Champions League. "I'm happy with the effort the club did and I'm happy they managed to do 75 percent of the work before the Premier League starts".

"What I had in other clubs was more players scoring goals, what we had was midfielders, wingers scoring, central defenders scoring goals at set pieces", Mourinho said.

The 54-year-old added: "I think everyone - the top seven - are all in Europe".

Mourinho has publicly stated his wish to bring in a fourth player before deadline day, and if executive vice chairman Ed Woodward delivers, it goes from being a very good transfer window, to an excellent one.
