Pep Guardiola can not fault the work rate of his Manchester City side, but wants more precision in their play.

Manchester City will be looking to start their Premier League 2017/18 season on a high when they take on newcomers Brighton on Saturday.

Sergio Agüero and Lewis Dunk (own goal) scored for the Blues and guaranteed a key victory to start the season. "I'm a big fan of his, both of his football and his humility. We have to win the games that we can do". "Against newly promoted teams it's always complicated - they defend so deep, with 10 players - but we were able in the end to win the game".

"There are a lot of positives to take out of this game, building on what we did in preseason".

"It is all I demand of my players and when you see Sergio and Gabriel run backwards and Kevin and David, that is the first step to creating something". "I sat here after the Sunderland game and you said: "You are the favourites, you are the most lovely, the most handsome, and nicest guys in the League".

"Last season we were favourites too", said Guardiola. Today our box was flawless and in the opponents box we scored two goals but we created more.

Gabriel made an immediate splash upon arriving from Palmeiras in January, scoring three goals in his first two Premier League starts and pushing the Argentina global to the bench. "Hopefully in the future we can be more accurate in those terms".

City travel to Girona for a friendly on Tuesday night before playing Everton on August 21.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton was proud of his side but felt they exhausted towards the end as City's class showed in the final 20 minutes.

"We are so satisfied for the first game, the way we played". When you're up against the quality that they've got - they have designs on Champions League; ours is to stay in this division next season. I assure you that because last season we finished contract of five, six players, and for six years Manchester City hadn't bought full-backs.

"Probably a draw would have been good result for them but we needed a win".
