Today, Chelsea are to table an improved bid for Danny Drinkwater...

According to Matt Law's report in the Telegraph, Chelsea have yet to follow-up on a rejected £15 million bid made "earlier in the window" for Leicester City for midfielder Danny Drinkwater, who's now sidelined with a thigh injury.

Chelsea have been looking to strengthen the midfield department of the squad, and have already brought in Tiemoue Bakayoko.

However, the Italian coach has made it perfectly clear the club needs to make further additions if they are going to be competitive in all competitions this season as their bench was filled with youngsters during Saturday's shock defeat to Burnley.

As per The Telegraph, the London club failed with an initial £15 million bid for the central midfielder and are yet to make a second offer.

However, the Foxes are ready to dig their heels in and demand the £40m Chelsea received from Manchester United for Nemanja Matic.

The same paper report that Leicester do not want to sell one of their star players and consider the central midfielder to be worth much more than Chelsea are now offering.

Drinkwater missed Leicester's opening Premier League game against Arsenal through a slight injury.

Conte is also hoping to strengthen other areas of his squad with the report indicating that Chelsea are hoping to sign three more players before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. Cancelo and Aurier are a few names of interest as the Blues also have their eyes on Southampton center-back Virgil Van-Dijk (and might soon submit and offer for him).
