Buhari's Supporters Storm Villa with Police Protection, Singing four more years

According to them, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has been unable to allocate portfolios to ministerial nominees and take decisions that could move the nation forward despite the transmission of power to him, proving that Buhari's absence is stagnating the nation.

The protest, which takes place on daily basis at the Unity Fountain in Abuja is convened by Deji Adeyanju and led by popular entertainer, Charles Oputa also known as Charly Boy.

Abdullahi said the protest was meant to force the president to resign or terminate his medical vacation.

The First Lady, Aisha Buhari travelled to London to meet the president on Sunday, August 6, ahead of what is considered to be his return.

The Senate called for a review of the police rules of engagement to conform with the principles of democracy as being practised in modern democracies.

"The Police personnel intervened at the point that the concerned Nigerians Group lost control of the crowd and prevented miscreants, hoodlums and other criminal elements from hijacking the protest to cause mayhem and chaos".

Yesterday, protesters had been tear gassed by security operatives who claimed the protest had been hijacked by the wrong crowd.

The protesters today converged at Unity Fountain, the same venue where a rival group of demonstrators under the hashtag, #ResumeorResign, had staged protests three days ago demanding the ailing president's immediate return to Nigeria or his resignation. They should note that any mortal being can find himself in the situation where one needs medical attention and more time to fully recuperate.

On Thursday, marking the fourth day of the protests, another group, Coalition for Good Governance and Change Initiative, on Thursday stormed Abuja to counter #ResumeOrResign protest, which began four days ago.

He further stressed that it is important the authorities respect the rights of the citizenry and not abridge them at will.
