As of now, one can only share the YouTube videos as a link.

Users are however not able to continue playback when entering other apps.

According to the folks at WABetaInfo, it seems that WhatsApp is testing out a feature that will allow users to play YouTube videos within the app itself.

We will however be keeping a close watch on the In app Youtube Playback feature release time frame for all the platforms in the coming months and updating this article.

Furthermore, you can also hide the video in the PIP mode temporarily without interrupting the video to read the message in the chat window.

WhatsApp is testing in-app YouTube video playback in the iOS version of their beta app. This is because; these devices have significantly bigger screens, which is important for this particular feature to work well. The update is available only on the 2.17.40 beta version of WhatsApp for iOS and there is no word on when the company will release a similar update for the Android operating system.

The ability to edit and delete messages have both been tested by WhatsApp in past preview versions and both are still absent from the main app. We are not sure if this will also come for Android or Windows Phones.
