The app is now available for Android users and one can download it from Google Play Store.

Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), which issues Aadhaar numbers has launched an app called mAadhaar that lets you carry your unique identification profile on your mobile. With this application, you can show your Aadhaar wherever applicable, and it removes the hassle of carrying a hard copy of the card.

The mAadhaar is a tiny app (10.80MB) which acts like a repository of Aadhaar cardholder info including Name, Date of Birth, Gender, and Address along with the photograph as seen in the Aadhaar card. At present, it is launched only for Android users but might be released for iOS users soon. Once resident enables Biometric Locking system their biometric remains locked till the Aadhaar Holder chose to either Unlock it (which is temporary) or Disable the Locking system.

Download the app and setup a unique password, followed by entering the 12-digit Aadhaar number.

Furthermore, the mAadhaar app also comes with Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) feature as well. Other features include viewing and sharing updated Aadhaar profile via QR (Quick Response) code - the two-dimensional barcode, and sharing eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) details with service providers such as telecommunications companies.

If you have successfully registered the Aadhaar number on to the application, then it will ask for the first set up password to display the details.

However, UIDAI in its announcement tweet mentioned that the app is now in beta stage and some of the features will be made available post future updates.
