Abuja - The last may not have been heard of Wednesday Supreme Court ruling which recognized the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The PDP was engulfed in internal crisis that threatened to tear the party apart over the leadership tussle between Makarfi-led faction and the Ali Modu Sherriff faction of the party.

"Internal democracy must be institutionalised in the party", he added.

"Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff was validly elected and was forced to vacate the National Secretariat after a joint meeting of the contending camps with the Inspector General of Police in the wake thuggery attack in the heat of conflicting court pronouncements".

But in a statement by the erstwhile spokesman of the faction, Bernard Mikko, Sheriff said ‎it is mischievous for anyone to say that he congratulated Makarfi on twitter.

"As a loyal and dedicated member who has held leadership position at the national level, the PDP remains my home as we once more rededicate ourselves and place the overriding interest of our party over and above every personal ambition or interest".

Therefore he appealed to those who had cases in court to withdraw such cases. People are looking for alternative and now the Supreme Court has restored their hope.

Makarfi made the announcement while reacting to a questions from journalists on whether the party would punish Modu Sheriff.

"Our common enemy is the APC; we should all join hands to chase out the APC in 2019", he said. "APC will begin to see virile opposition henceforth". If he said that, then you would hear from me tomorrow.

The governor, however, said that Sheriff and his followers had been forgiven but won't go scot-free for causing the party members so much pain.

"The "no victor, no vanquished" that we said was a mere political slogan".
