With the odds stacked against her, the Congress-led opposition's presidential candidate Meira Kumar on Monday urged the members of the electoral college to heed their "voice of conscience" and vote for an ideology that binds India.

"Today NDA's presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind along with me held discussions with the legislators supporting the Parrikar-led government in Goa".

During his visit to all the states, Kovind, who is a consensus NDA candidate, has received overwhelming support from everybody, Gadkari claimed.

Everyone in the NDA, be it the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi or BJP's National President Amit Shah came to the Parliament to vote in the Presidential election.

As per indications, the ruling party MLAs in the State which included MLAs from the Congress, the NCP and the independents are likely to vote in favour of the opposition presidential candidate. President Pranab Mukherjee's tenure ends on July 24. NDA's candidate Ram Nath Kovind is locking horns with the opposition candidate Meira Kumar.

This Thursday, we saw Ram Nath Kovind address the MLAs and MPs of Rajasthan at the chief minister's official residence. Counting would be held on July 20. But the battle must be fought and fought hard. Though the division in the party may not have any bearing on the election result, it will certainly complicate the family feud further, say SP leaders. The move follows the controversy witnessed in the Rajya Sabha polls in Haryana previous year where a few votes were disqualified for using the wrong colour ink.

However, there was also a huge opposition wave rushing to the voting ballots to cast their votes exercising their democratic right. The total number of voters, eligible to choose the designate for the highest constitutional post, amount to 4,896 - comprising of 543 Lok Sabha MPs, 233 Rajya Sabha MPs and 4,120 MLAs.

"Only these pens can be used for marking the votes".
