This assertion from the RJD chief thus brought an end to speculations that Tejashwi Yadav might step down from the post to save the ruling alliance.

Nitish Kumar likely to take a call on Tejashwi after Presidential election.

Bihar's ruling Grand Alliance of the Janata Dal-United, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Congress is divided with JD-U supporting BJP-led NDA nominee Ram Nath Kovind, while the RJD and Congress are supporting the combined opposition's nominee Meira Kumar.

Kumar was holding a meeting with state urban development minister Maheshwar Hazari, chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh and officials of the department to take feedback on progress of work under different schemes, which are part of his "seven resolves" of good governance. Other senior leaders from within the Grand Secular Alliance have also started coming forward to mediate between Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav, but sources told this newspaper "they have not succeeded in their attempts as Nitish Kumar is not ready to compromise and wants Tejashwi Yadav to resign".

Lalu slammed Nitish as he is supporting Kovind. Those who are threatening of having 80 MLAs with them should not be in any kind of confusion.

The Janata Dal (United) on Saturday said that party leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has not demanded resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, who has been named in a First Information Report (FIR). "It will not take us even 5 minutes to quit government, power", JD (U) spokesperson Ajay Alok had told India Today.

Asked about Lalu Prasad's remarks that Tejashwi would present is facts only before investigating agencies, Tyagi said: "The CM does deserve an explanation from his deputy".

Lalu Yadav's son Tejashwi has been named by the CBI in a disproportionate assets case and the RJD has repeatedly made it clear that he won't resignation as the case was a conspiracy hatched by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Kumar Choudhary has met Lalu and expressed solidarity with him.

Another senior RJD leader and former MP Shivanand Tiwari has appealed to Nitish Kumar to end the crisis.
