The scrap metal smashed in the roof of the auto on the driver's side, authorities said.

The pipe fell off an overpass from a truck loaded with scrap metal, WFTV reported.

An Orlando man sustained only minor injuries when a large piece of scrap metal crushed his van after falling from a highway overpass Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

It's still unclear at this time if Trademark Metal Recycling LLC, the company whose name was on the truck, will take action against Wharton. Amazingly, Escobar was able to walk away from the crash with only minor injuries.

Escobar's wife, Aricelli, told ABC News her husband is "blessed to be alive".

The scrap metal smashed in the roof of 36-year-old Jesus Armando Escobar's vehicle on the driver's side.

"He's a father to three small children and he's our miracle", she said in a statement.

The truck driver was charged with careless driving, according to the FHP release.

The truck hit the guardrail and overturned, the Florida Highway Patrol says.
