A repairman was changing the lock on the ATM machine around 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at a Bank of America in Corpus Christi, Texas and somehow got himself locked inside the small room that contains the machine at a Bank of America on.

A Texas police officer responded to an unusual plea for help when a Good Samaritan called 911 to report someone slipped a note through the receipt slot of an ATM, saying they were trapped inside. I'm stuck in here, and I don't have my phone.

Police ended up having to kick down the door to get the contractor out.

Police say the contractor wasn't hurt, but he was stuck inside the room for about two hours.

Corpus Christi police officer Richard Olden summed up the weird incident: You'll never see this again in your life that somebody's stuck in the ATM machine.

And while some figured the message was meant as a joke, police did eventually free a man stuck behind the machine.

Unfortunately, he locked himself inside the ATM room and can not let himself out or call for help because he left his phone and key card in his truck.

"So everybody's OK, but you'll never see this again in your life", said Olden. "It was just insane", Officer Olden added.

When he realized customers were retrieving cash from the machine, he passed notes to them through the ATM receipt slot.

Police said a number of other ATM users ignored the notes thinking it was a joke.

"Apparently he left his cellphone and the swipe card he needed to get out of the room outside in his truck", Hooper said.
