Facebook's built-in camera does GIFs now

If you are a regular user of Facebook app's Camera tool, you might have started to see an option to create GIFs within the app.

The new feature comes a month after Facebook finally rolled out a GIF button for comments on the social network, in celebration of the GIF's 30th birthday. The feature is gradually being rolled out, as is often the case, so it's not available for all users just yet. Facebook confirmed that the GIF maker is now in testing phase and is only accessible to a handful of users, but it is being gradually rolled out.

Users can access the feature in the app's camera mode, where they have the choice between a "normal" or "GIF" tab at the top of the screen. But you can only share the resulting GIFs on your Facebook story or as posts on your Facebook page. Which means they're not much use outside of Facebook.

If you thought Facebook was running out of ways to help you bombard your friends' news feeds, think again.
