Chelsea have a "serious and strong interest" in signing Sergio Agüero

The Argentine striker has struggled to win over City boss Pep Guardiola since his arrival at the Etihad.

Manchester City have no interest in selling Sergio Aguero this summer and any approach from Chelsea will end in failure, according to reports.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol claims Chelsea are looking to take advantage of that and complete a shock swoop this summer.

Chelsea are keen on the likes of Alvaro Morata, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Andrea Belotti and a surprise name now being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge is Aguero.

That means that City would rather keep hold of Aguero for another season, even if he is not an automatic first choice, than to sell the 29-year-old now while he could still command a serious transfer fee from a major European club.

Scoring an impressive 169 goals in 253 games for City since 2011, Aguero has been one of the most prolific strikers in English football over the last decade.

When asked if Aguero was staying in May, City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: "Absolutely".

Speaking earlier this summer, the latter said: "I've read a lot of the speculation on this and it's ridiculous".

And one of those targets is understood to be Manchester City hitman Sergio Aguero. "It has never been in doubt".

Over the past 24 hours, rumours of Sergio Aguero moving to Chelsea have seriously picked up. "It has never been in doubt".

It seems to defy all logic and City will surely not sell the club icon to potentially their closest title rivals next season - unless, perhaps, Pep Guardiola has something really huge lined up.
