"I am very happy to be here", Bakayoko told the club's official website.

Chelsea's newest center back, Antonio Rüdiger is hoping to reap similar rewards from Conte's Midas touch.

Bakayoko has joined the Premier League champions from Monaco in a deal worth a reported £40million and is already saying all the right things to get supporters excited.

The Germany worldwide defender was coveted by Antonio Conte before he even took charge of his Blues match, but he had to wait 12 months to finally get his hands on the Roma defender.

Bakayoko was linked with Chelsea for several months after a breakthrough season in France with Monaco.

Asked about his football heroes, the central midfielder cited Chelsea legend Didier Drogba - and revealed another former Stamford Bridge favourite, Claude Makelele, had helped develop his game. "I am now looking forward to evolving under this fantastic coach and alongside so many great team mates".

The 22-year-old subsequently watched Chelsea run riot in an 8-2 friendly win over Fulham at their Cobham training ground and he thanked Batshuayi - who scored twice in the rout - for his impact on the transfer.

Given that his transfer value has only risen by £10 million at Chelsea despite winning two Premier League medals and one League Cup triumph in 2015, Costa seems to have reached his expiry date in England.

"I can't say anything because I have not played in the Premier League", he added.

"They had a great season and I that's why I said I want to be a part of that".
