The rossoneri want to sign Renato Sanches on a two-year loan with option to buy but Bayern Munich are not willing to sell their starlet on loan, at least for the moment.

United made their desire to sign Sanches last summer public, and there has been some talk that they could try again for him this summer, though he doesn't now appear to be a priority in midfield.

He made just six starts in the Bundesliga and even dropped to Portugal's Under-21 squad despite playing a key role in their triumphant Euro 2016 campaign.

If Sanches wants to make it at Bayern, he will have to go out on loan and prove his worth once more, and therefore, he has to assess his options carefully this summer.

The Red Devils have instead been linked with the likes of Nemanja Matic, Eric Dier and Fabinho, with Milan seemingly now leading the chase for the 19-year-old's signature.

Morata, who previously represented Juventus in Serie A, returned to boyhood club Real Madrid last summer but struggled to cement a starting berth under manager Zinedine Zidane.

Sanches' chances of first-team football have taken another hit following the big-money arrival of Corentin Tolisso.

Rummenigge confirmed talks are ongoing between the two sides but did concede that Milan are yet to meet their asking price.

Bayern Munich boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed they have dropped their interest in signing Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez for next season.

'They reported midweek. And if you borrow a player from Bayern, that also has economic effects. It was not just about lending. That's why Bayern locked him down to a five year deal.
