A remake of the 1030s monster movie starring Boris Karloff (don't go in hoping for a remake of Brendan Fraser's movie), The Mummy is the first film in the brand new Dark Universe, a cinematic universe which Universal aims to emulate the Marvel Cinematic Universe with remakes of the studio's classic 1930s monster films including The Invisible Man and Bride Of Frankenstein.

Universal Pictures has released five film clips from The Mummy starring Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance and Oscar victor Russell Crowe. The film will kick-start a new era of Universal Studios famous Monsters legacy with a brand new Dark Universe series of movies. Well, that film's director Alex Kurtzman has obviously been doing the official rounds of press interviews and has been commenting on his planned universe some more.

"We know we're going to do Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Phantom of the Opera, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Invisible Man", he says.

The cast also includes Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, Russell Crowe, and Sofia Boutella as the titular character. He stated that it's possible to explore characters within those films and see if they can expand and unveil deeper mythologies that are related to the monsters.

These days Tom is meticulous in his preparation before taking on stunts like a spectacular zero-gravity action sequence in his new movie The Mummy.

And which other actors would he like to bring into the fold? "I'd love to bring Michael Fassbender in, I'd love to bring Jennifer Lawrence in, I'd love to see Charlize Theron in there, Angelina Jolie..." The voice of Prodigium, a SHIELD-like organization, Jekyll seems to be the shared universe's Nick Fury, bringing superheroes together to fight evil.

On June 9 Tom Cruise's new movie The Mummy will hit cinemas.
