Liverpool are expected to announce their second signing of the summer before the end of the week after agreeing a £39m ($49.2m) deal including add-ons with AS Roma for the transfer of Mohamed Salah.

The Reds have been trying to find common ground with Roma ever since seeing their initial offer for Salah knocked back earlier this month.

Salah is now travelling to Merseyside to undergo a medical and put pen to paper on a five-year, £90,000-a-week contract with the Reds.

Southampton's Virgil van Dijk, RB Leipzig's Naby Keita and Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also believed to be Klopp's other preferred targets.

Salah's long-rumoured move to Liverpool would be finally secured this week with the Egyptian flying into England to hold talks with Jurgen Klopp's side and for a medical, the Telegraph reports.

The Egypt worldwide nearly joined Liverpool in 2014 but moved to Chelsea from Basle for £11 million.

The former Chelsea man, who played as a centre-forward for Roma on several occasions this season, is set to cost the Reds a transfer record fee as they try to negotiate an amount with Salah's current club.

Salah, who had a failed two-year spell at Chelsea before joining Roma permanently in 2016, scored 19 goals last season.

Salah impressed in Serie A last term, making 31 appearances, scoring 15 goals and providing 11 assists, as the Giallorossi finished second in the table.
