The cash value lump sum is an estimated $273.1 million.

The largest Powerball jackpot in history was drawn January 13, 2016, when three winners from California, Florida and Tennessee split the $1.58 billion prize - a combined cash payout of $983.5 million.

No one has won the jackpot since April 1st, when a player in Arizona won a comparatively meager $60 million.

If you've never played before, or even if you're a regular player, here are some things you should know about the game.

Powerball numbers are drawn every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m.

Powerball players apparently will have a chance to win the 10th largest lottery prize in USA history.

That anonymous victor, described by his spokeswoman as a manufacturing plant worker who graduated from Purdue University, chose the lump-sum cash option of $263.5 million when he came forward in March. The next-largest prize - a $435.3 million Powerball win in February - went to an anonymous victor in Indiana.
