The United goalkeeper has always been linked with a return to his homeland, and the Sun says Old Trafford chiefs are ready to make that happen provided they receive Ronaldo and striker Morato in return. I know Cristiano and he's a good guy, not just with the ball, but as a person.

Spanish prosecutors have accused Ronaldo of defrauding the authorities of millions of euros in tax, which he has denied. "That's why I will speak with him when he gets back and see what's up", Perez told Spanish radio Onda Cero late Monday. But I wouldn't count on him to be winning Ballon d'Ors at 37. What people can not do is talk about him like he is a delinquent, that bothers me and is hurtful.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are the two clubs most keenly pursuing the 31-year-old forward's signature, but Perez skipped over talk of a sale by pricing Ronaldo out of the market. If he wants to cement himself as the indisputable GOAT, leaving Real Madrid while still in his prime could be a mistake. I've heard everything through the newspapers.

"We want to keep all our players next season, including James", he added.

Ronaldo reportedly wants to leave Spain because he believes he has been targeted by the authorities.

Real Madrid issued a statement fully supporting the player, claiming they were "absolutely convinced of his innocence", but Ronaldo is unsatisfied with the club over their attempts to defend him on the matter.

Perez, though, insists Real have yet to receive any offers for Ronaldo - or for his fellow forwards Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez, who have both been heavily linked with moves away from the Bernabeu this summer.

"The clause for Cristiano is £1bn".

In 2009, Perez - then in his second spell at the club - signed Ronaldo for Real for a then world-record fee of £80m.

The Portuguese global, who lifted the Champions League for a second season on the bounce earlier this month, scored 118 goals in 291 appearances for the Red Devils, winning three Premier League titles, two League Cups, an FA Cup and the Champions League, as well as the first of his Ballon d'Or's.
