Markelle Fultz And Celtics Have Been Talking

Former Washington star Markelle Fultz told ESPN Wednesday (AEDT) he's had "a few" talks with Boston Celtics executive Danny Ainge about the upcoming NBA Draft.

However, the fervor of the fans hasn't deterred Fultz's interest in joining the Celtics.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers could still wind up with Lonzo Ball if the Sixers were to select Markelle Fultz with the No. 1 overall pick (provided they trade up in the draft). For the Celtics who have the number one overall pick in the June 22 draft, this is the covering-all-the-bases portion of their pre-draft preparation. But Fultz said he and Thomas already have a relationship - the Celtics All-Star also attended the University of Washington - and Fultz says he thinks the two could play well together.

When the Paul George and Jimmy Butler rumors were flying around the trade deadline in February, the Celtics were unable to offer the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft because the lottery had not occurred yet. I would say no. The C's should also attempt to sign Isaiah Thomas to a new contract this summer and hope that he and Fultz can co-exist on the same floor. Hayward in particular has always been thought of as a likely candidate for the Celtics, on account of the fact that joining would be a reunion between himself and his former head coach at Butler, Brad Stevens. We can never truly know from the outside whether they truly were, yet rumours abounded that both Chicago Bulls swingman Jimmy Butler and Indiana Pacers forward Paul George were both plenty available at the trade deadline for any team willing to part with the right future assets. "And they want to get me to come out there for a visit. It's been a dream of mine since I was a little kid, and I feel like I would fit well in Boston", Fultz declared.

Again, I don't think for a moment that the Celtics are seriously considering trading back in the draft unless they are getting an enormous haul in return. As for the clincher, he added, "Off the court, I'm humble". Not to mention, Fultz has been in contact with Ainge and expressed how badly he wants to be the top selection. Or he has other things in mind.
