Manchester United look set to retain the services of David De Gea this summer after Real Madrid's president appeared to rule out a move for the goalkeeper.

Spanish stopper De Gea, 26, is a long-term Real target and was on the verge of a move back to La Liga two years ago before the switch fell through at the 11th hour.

La Roja worldwide keeper De Gea has always been thought to want to move back to his homeland, while his partner, pop star Edurne, continues to live Spain.

To run for Real Madrid's presidency, candidates must have been a member of the club for 20 years and show they have at least Euro 75 million in a Spanish bank.

"We haven't spoken to De Gea", Perez told Spanish radio station OndaCero.

Amid speculation of De Gea leaving, Manchester United have been linked with Joe Hart and AC Milan prodigy Gianluigi Donnarumma. Two years ago we had that fax misfortune.

"The players are very fond of Keylor Navas, and also the coach". I like Keylor Navas.

Most of the focus was on who might be joining the club as opposed to a certain potential high profile departure that we are definitely not going to mention.

The emergence of 18-year-old Mbappe and Donnarumma's contract situation at AC Milan have caught the eyes of club chiefs in Madrid, though.

"As no other candidature was put forward to the board, it is proclaimed that Mr. Florentino Perez Rodriguez is president of Real Madrid", said Real Madrid in a press release.

'Zidane saw him when he was 16 years old.

"Mbappe has some very good ways and surely he'll become one of the greatest".

Real Madrid received help from an unusual source to acquire the services of Marco Asensio in 2014, with tennis superstar Rafael Nadal acting as a go-between, Florentino Perez has revealed.

"Last year we had a possibility that we didn't take, and now we have no agreement with Manchester United to sign him".
