Of the seven players added, Nike signed three from the University of Kentucky: guard De'Aaron Fox, guard Malik Monk and center Bam Adebayo. During his freshman season with Kentucky, Fox averaged 16.7 points per game and led the team with 165 assists and 53 steals.

Monk's handles still aren't very tight, but he has the athleticism to be a very good finisher if he can get to the rim with more consistency.

Strengths: Monk is a prolific scorer who haunts opposing defenses with his shooting ability.

The opportunity to draft Monk became real when the Sacramento Kings traded the No. 10 pick to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Looking at who was still available when the Hornets selected, they chose to go with the best player available.

"We all have these paradigms of "we're going to draft this type of person" and 'this type of player, ' but we're all human beings and we're dealing with human beings and it's never going to be just the way that you want it, " Weltman said. The Hornets closely monitored the Monk situation this week, with his stock seemingly slipping to a point that he could reach No. 11.

It is also worth noting that since the draft lottery began in 1985, four of 32 No. 1 overall picks have won an National Basketball Association championship with the team that drafted them: David Robinson (San Antonio Spurs, 1987), Tim Duncan (Spurs, 1997), LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers, 2003) and Kyrie Irving (Cavaliers, 2011). "Everybody is comfortable. Kemba is comfortable because he's with my agency".

"I'm going to beat him".

Quote: "I'm trying to be rookie of the year, get to the rookie game and All-Star Weekend". He was the victor of the Jerry West Award given to the nation's top shooting guard. Michael (Kidd-Gilchrist) was 17, Devin Booker was 17.

Utah Jazz: The 13th pick in the 2017 NBA Draft (Donovan Mitchell). Kennard went to the Detroit Pistons. It's also unclear whether he has the distribution skills to log major minutes at point guard, which would help mitigate his vulnerability on D. Rondo and Wade will be unrestricted free agents in 2018 and the guards behind them really haven't shown much in Chicago during their time with the Bulls and/or aren't that good to begin with.
