Chelsea Have Completed Their First Signing Of The Summer

The Daily Star and Daily Express are both reporting that the Blues are set to announce the arrival of the Argentine goalkeeper as their first summer signing in the coming days.

Caballero played about half of Manchester City's games previous year, so he should still be quite capable if and when Courtois needs a breather.

The newspaper claims that they have already agreed terms with the 35-year-old who has been released by Manchester City.

But City have since snapped up Ederson from Benfica in a £35m deal and Caballero's contract was allowed to run down.

Caballero is expected to be a back-up to Chelsea's number 1 goalie Thibaut Courtois in the next Premier League season.

The Argentinian's time at City saw him play mostly as a second-string keeper, and the London side view him as the ideal back-up option for Thibaut Courtois.

"We have some offers from England, he wants to stay in England", Faija told

It doesn't reflect particularly well on Newcastle United that the out-of-favour Matz Sels remains at St James' Park while Willy Caballero, Rafael Benitez's goalkeeping target of choice, appears set to put pen to paper elsewhere.

Argentine giants Boca Juniors were also keen on bringing Caballero back to his homeland.

"Newcastle is cold but pretty and the beaches in Brighton are handsome as well and easily accessible from London". To analyse it, first, we need an offer.
