Price went 5 innings in his 2017 debut against the White Sox last week, allowing 3 earned runs in 2 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.

Baltimore's Seth Smith and Manny Machado both hit home runs in the first inning to give the Orioles an early 2-0 lead in the game. Power slugger Chris Davis hit his 11th home run of the year and Adam Jones added his ninth homer of the season in the same game.

An inning later, Benintendi produced the first multi-homer game of his career with a solo shot off Mike Wright that boosted the lead to 6-3.

Boston's Chris Sale also threw six inning, but struck out nine Baltimore batters in the win.

Chris Tillman (1-3) kept the Orioles even until the sixth when Pena's errant throw to third after a pitch with the bases loaded allowed two runs to score.

BALTIMORE (AP) - David Price returned to form against the Baltimore Orioles, and after he was done, the skilled left-hander made this perfectly clear: The best is yet to come. Yuck. Still, Tillman nearly escaped his own jam, striking out catcher Sandy Leon for the second out, leaving him with only.171 hitter Deven Marrero to retire and keep the score tied.

Johnson fell down after delivering a pitch in the second inning Saturday in Durham, N.C. It was his first start since the previous weekend's gem at Fenway Park, and it was meant to be a tune-up before a return to the big leagues to replace Rodriguez.

The aforementioned defensive miscues were at third base. "It's just a tough lane to throw through", Showalter said. "We project that his first day eligible, he'd be ready to go", Farrell said.

"I don't think we've gone overboard with overwork or anything", Benintendi said.

Benintendi tied it with his sixth home run, the first in 81 at-bats since May 7.

Second base umpire Laz Diaz initially ruled that the ball touched the grass before Betts secured it, but Red Sox manager John Farrell challenged. Boston has scored first in 12 of its past 16 games. A native of East Baltimore, Manfra grew up listening to Hall of Fame broadcaster Chuck Thompson and joined the Orioles radio team in 1993. He could be taking batting practice when the team plays in NY versus the Yankees starting Tuesday.

ODDS AND ENDS: The Orioles signed left-handed pitcher Lucas Luetge for their Triple-A Norfolk affiliate.

Orioles: C Welington Castillo (testicular injury) played catch in the outfield. He's an option to fill the void in the rotation left by Eduardo Rodriguez being placed on the disabled list. He's eligible to come off the DL on June 10, but not before a rehabilitation assignment.

Price took a three-hitter into the eighth inning to earn his first win of the season, Hanley Ramirez homered and the Boston Red Sox rolled to a 5-2 victory Saturday night.

"I feel like it's going to continue to get better", said Price, who strained his left flexor mass muscle on the last day of February.

Orioles: Following a day off Monday, the Orioles and Kevin Gausman (3-4, 5.92) open a two-game interleague series against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates.
