OnePlus has officially unveiled its latest smartphone, the OnePlus 5, confirming the device's specifications and features before it fully rolls out later this month. The current generation of flagship smartphones such as the Sasmung Galaxy S8, LG G6 and Sony Xperia XZs are priced at around Rs. 50000.

Both the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 3T are created to feel like high-end smartphones such as Apple's iPhone 7 and Samsung's Galaxy S8 in the user's hand. The OnePlus series has never been known for its looks and it's on the inside that matters, which we shall discuss in a few moments.

To recall the specifics, the OnePlus 5 sports a a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Optic AMOLED display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5. The OnePlus 5 manages to overcome this drawback by equipping itself with the fastest chipset and most RAM that can be fit on a smartphone. Here, the phone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC that takes advantage of the 10nm process as opposed to the 14nm process used to manufacture the 3T's Snapdragon 821. That is for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. While the OnePlus 3T was launched on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and upgraded to the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat, the OnePlus 5 will continue the chain and come with Oxygen OS based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, ready to be upgraded to Android O once the next major version of the operating system is released. The biggest change on the OnePlus comes with its cameras. The difference is at the back, but this is just because of the camera setup and positioning. You have a 16MP wide-angle lens and a 20MP telephoto sensor coupled with dual LED flash. For selfie lovers, there is a 16MP front camera as well.

OnePlus upgraded the specifications of the OnePlus 5 in nearly every way compared to the OnePlus 3T.

Admittedly, while the specs of the OnePlus 5 are impressive, OnePlus 3 and 3T owners might not see enough to justify upgrading. The USB Type C helps with the Dash Charge feature that recharges the 3300mAh non removable battery at a faster speed.

Freshly formalized, the OnePlus 5 has a data sheet worthy of the market leaders.

The best OnePlus smartphone we've tested in our lab impressed our experts with its speedy processor, top-notch battery life and call quality. Overall the OnePlus 5 tries its best to retain its flagship killer title. The base model has the same price tag as the high-end model of the 3T - $479 - while the high-end variant, which packs 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, has a price tag of $539.

People in the U.S. are really lucky, because the most minuscule price is offered for the latest OnePlus 5.
