The Washington Nationals tapped Cousins in the 20th round (613 overall), marking the third time in the last seven seasons that the Quakers have had multiple players taken in the draft.

Two former Long Beach Poly High School teammates were drafted: USC shortstop Frankie Rios (Boston Red Sox) and Stanford left-handed pitcher Chris Castellanos (Mariners). He was taken 377th overall by the Cincinnati Reds in the 13th round. He surrendered 57 hits in 58.0 innings while striking out 55 batters and walking just 10.

Valverde was 8-1 with a 1.80 ERA at Miami Dade College last season in 14 games, including 13 starts. He tossed three complete games, including a pair of no-hitters that came in back-to-back starts early in the year. The tandem gives Brown multiple Major League Baseball draft selections for the first time since 2005.

The Smith Island, Md., native is the 64th player picked in the MLB Draft during the 44-year history of the Flames' program, which has now had at least one player chosen in each draft since 2000. He clinched Georgia's spot in the SEC Tournament this season with a road win over SC.

The fifth Wolverine selected was junior pitcher Bryan Pall, taken by Seattle in the 25th round, No. 753 overall. Boyd was an NJCAA Div. 1 World Series All-Tournament Team pick. He was a member of the All-SEC Academic Team this past year.
