"He likes to bring people up to date on what he's done", Comey's father said. Then he said he's never going to release them.

The Secret Service, which protects the president and his family, maintained a secret taping system for the White House in the eras of John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon.

Lawmakers, including Al Franken of Minnesota and Patrick Leahy of Vermont, have asked the FBI to investigate and to determine if Sessions committed perjury when he denied having had meetings with Russians. "I don't see any indication that there was even the potential for corruption here or for obstruction of justice", said Lee.

There is a way that Sessions could skirt around having to directly answer these questions, however. In one note, Comey says Trump cleared the room before encouraging Comey to end an investigation into Trump's national security adviser, Michael Flynn.

Kinzinger, who declined to endorse Trump during last year's election and has criticized him before for not staying on message as President, said it would best if Trump allows the investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 presidential election to move forward. The Justice Department has denied that, saying Sessions stressed to Comey the need to be careful about following appropriate policies.

Senators Lindsey Graham of SC and Dianne Feinstein of California, the Republican chairman and the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, also called on Mr. Sessions to appear before their committee. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley and Feinstein, formally requested Comey's memos of his meeting with Trump from Comey's friend Daniel Richman.

-Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer of NY said he would take Trump up on his offer to testify under oath about his conversations with Comey, inviting the president to testify before the Senate.

And yet Sessions took a huge action on May 9: He signed a letter, with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, recommending that Trump fire Comey as Federal Bureau of Investigation director.

Apprenticeships had largely been focused on the construction sector but have since branched out to include health care and information technology, among other fields, said Andrew Cortes, who leads a committee that advises the secretary of labor on the government's registered apprenticeship program. Sessions will also have to answer questions about his meetings with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak, and whether there are more than the two confirmed encounters in 2016 that Sessions did not disclose.
