Warriors coach Steve Kerr not yet ready to return to bench

A source told ESPN's Michael C. Wright after Leonard was ruled out for Game 3 the Spurs "will always prioritize a player's long-term health over single games", even when the playoffs are involved. The Warriors capitalized on the situation, placing the western conference finals at a 2-0 record.

Warriors general manager Bob Myers says the team still does not know whether Steve Kerr will be able to coach in the NBA Finals.

"I feel like we could definitely be better". Doc Rivers was right in that teams have to have luck to get through the West, and the Warriors certainly looked to be in for a long series prior to Kawhi Leonard going down with a rather dubious ankle injury that Zaza Pachulia may or may not have intentionally caused.

"The first half we played some of the best basketball we played all season", Brown said of Game 4, "against one of the best teams in basketball".

"We have to go in with a bunker mentality that we had in Game 1 and Game 2, to go out and do what we do, but we have to defend", James said. But if 2016 taught us anything, it should be that 3-1 leads can be overcome. Warriors interim head coach Mike Brown was asked about Lue's comments and responded on Thursday. Still, he doesn't seem anywhere near ready to come back and coach the team, as Myers alluded to Thursday.

While the resulting changes helped the Celtics score a 111-108 victory in Game 3, Cleveland bounced back with a 112-99 triumph in the last contest to take a commanding 3-1 series lead.

Kyrie Irving came alive in last night's Game 4 and carried the Cavs to a 112-99 win.

Kerr then coached this season without incident, before being forced away from the bench during the playoffs. The Cavs and the Warriors have competed against each other in the NBA Finals in 2015 and 2016. That is why Myers, who has grown close with Kerr, is in a hard position trying to speak about his friend's situation from a basketball standpoint, when he is feeling it much more deeply on a personal level.

"I'm saying to myself, 'They can not tie up this series". "But he's a person and he's not feeling well". I'm sure he wishes he could as well. "And Boston is going to make it even harder".

"But right now, we're not at that point".
